Military Courts slaps soldier with death sentence for killing senior officer

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BENADIR: The Somali Armed Forces Court has today sentenced a police officer to death for the killing of a senior commander in Hodan district last year, March 17.

Intensive investigations revealed that Mohamed Nur Sheikh Abdi Waare, was found guilty of the gruesome murder of the late Ahmed Ali Abdi, a former police unit commander with the Somali force.

According to the court, the killing of the commander took place at the headquarters of the Revolutionary Department, but immediate action by security forces led to the arrest of the accused shortly after committing the heinous act.

Judge Mohamed Abdi Mumin however, gave the accused an opportunity to appeal against the death sentence within a reasonable period.
