Mogadishu, Bristol Agree To Explore Closer Cooperation on Local Services
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Mogadishu and Bristol have agreed to explore closer cooperation in local government, public services and the exchange of municipal expertise following talks between the mayors of the two cities.
Mogadishu Mayor Hassan Mohamed Hussein Moongab met Bristol Mayor Yasin Mahmoud in the Somali capital on Sunday, with the discussions focusing on practical areas where the two cities could share experience and develop future cooperation.
The talks highlighted local government management, public service delivery and the exchange of technical and administrative experience as potential areas for deeper engagement, according to a statement from the Banadir Regional Administration.
As part of the visit, Mahmoud toured several departments and offices of the Banadir administration to observe how municipal authorities in Mogadishu operate and deliver services to residents.
The visit is intended to provide an opportunity for both sides to learn from each other’s experience as they consider areas for future collaboration.
Cooperation with an established British city could provide Mogadishu opportunities to draw on experience in areas such as municipal administration and public services as the capital continues to develop its local government structures.
The engagement also offers Bristol an opportunity to strengthen links with Mogadishu and explore practical cooperation between the two cities.
No specific funding agreement or formal municipal partnership was announced at the meeting, but both sides expressed an interest in developing the relationship and identifying areas of cooperation in the future.
