MOGADISHU: The federal government of Somalia has completed the training of 120 officers from the Darawiish Police Unit, as it steps up efforts to strengthen law enforcement and internal security.

Interior Security Minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail presided over the graduation ceremony, praising the officers for their discipline and readiness to serve.

He said the newly trained personnel would support ongoing operations to improve security and reinforce the rule of law, adding that the government remains focused on professionalising the Somali Police Force.

The Darawiish unit is a specialised branch tasked with responding to security threats and supporting stabilisation efforts across the country.

The training programme is part of a broader strategy by the federal government of Somalia to build capable and accountable security institutions amid continued challenges from militant groups.
