GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal government of Somalia’s deputy prime minister, Saleh Ahmed Jama, on Saturday oversaw a leadership handover at the Immigration and Citizenship Agency, urging reforms to strengthen border management and public services.

Hussein Kasim Yusuf formally assumed office as director of the agency, replacing Mustafa Sheikh Ali Dhuhulow, during a ceremony attended by senior government officials.

Jama said the agency plays a critical role in safeguarding national security and regulating cross-border movement, calling for improved efficiency and tighter oversight.

He also stressed the need to enhance delivery of key services, including passports and travel documents, which remain in high demand among Somali citizens.

Ministry officials outlined ongoing efforts to modernise administrative systems and improve service standards as part of broader public sector reforms.

The leadership change comes as Somalia continues to rebuild state institutions and strengthen governance systems, with a focus on improving service delivery and tightening border controls amid persistent security challenges.
