NISA Captures Several Suspected Al-Shabaab Militants in Beledweyne

GOOBJOOG NEWS | BELEDWEYNE: The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has captured several suspected Al-shabaab militants in an operation conducted at Beledweyne city in Hiraan region.

According to NISA officials, the suspects are believed to have been headed for Galgaduud region to reinforce their Al-shabaab counterparts who are facing a heavy offensive from government forces.  

NISA has recently conducted several operations and intercepted the militant’s plans to conduct attacks in several parts of the country, which has seen many of the terror group members killed by government forces.

Government forces have at the same time regained control of various locations across the country which were previously under the control of the militants, destroying their bases and recovering various military equipment.

This comes as the government concludes its first phase of its war against the Al-shabaab and plans to launch the second phase which aims to liberate all parts of the country from the militants.
