PM Barre Appoints New Information Minister in Cabinet Reshuffle

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has appointed a new minister of information, culture and tourism in a cabinet change aimed at supporting the government’s evolving priorities.

The Prime Minister named Abdifitah Qasim Mohamud to the post, replacing Daud Aweis Jama.

The appointment, made in consultation with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, follows constitutional procedures, officials said.

Barre called on the new minister to carry out his duties with efficiency and dedication, as the government continues to strengthen its communication strategy and public outreach.

The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism plays a key role in managing government messaging, promoting Somali culture and supporting efforts to develop the country’s tourism sector.

The reshuffle comes as the federal government of Somalia seek to reinforce institutional capacity and respond to a broad agenda that includes security, governance and economic development.
