Police Deputy Chief Visits Galmudug Districts to Assess Security Operations
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Deputy Police Commissioner Osman Abdullahi Mohamed, visited several districts and settlements in the central Galmudug state on Monday to assess police operations and local security conditions.
Mohamed and a delegation of senior police officers travelled to the districts of Ceeldibir, Ceelguula and the settlement of Wargalo in Somalia’s central Mudug region.
The delegation was received by local officials and community leaders, who welcomed the visit and praised the police leadership’s engagement with communities in the area, according to Somali police officials.
Speaking during the visit, Mohamed said the trip was focused on strengthening security in areas under the Galmudug administration and evaluating the performance of police forces operating in the region.
The visit comes as Somali authorities continue efforts to reinforce local security structures and stabilise central regions following military operations against Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab.
Somalia’s federal and regional authorities have in recent months increased coordination between police, local administrations and community leaders as part of broader efforts to maintain security in areas recovered from the militant group.
