GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has congratulated Somalis on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, urging unity, compassion and continued support for national peace and stability as the country confronts ongoing security and political challenges.

In a statement marking the Islamic holiday, President Mohamud described Eid al-Adha as a celebration founded on faith, sacrifice, solidarity and care for vulnerable communities.

“I pray to Allah to accept our good deeds and allow us to witness this occasion again in peace, good health and prosperity,” the president said.

The president also praised members of the Somali National Armed Forces and security personnel engaged in operations against Al-Shabaab militants, crediting their sacrifices with helping the country make progress toward stability and state-building.

He commended “the brave men and women defending the nation” and citizens supporting efforts to strengthen governance and peace across Somalia.

Somalia has intensified military offensives against Al-Shabaab in central and southern regions over the past two years, with the government seeking to reclaim territory from the militant group while advancing institutional reforms and constitutional processes.

The president also extended congratulations to Somali pilgrims performing the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, praying for the acceptance of their worship and for lasting peace and prosperity in Somalia.

Eid al-Adha, one of the most important holidays in Islam, is celebrated by Muslims worldwide and coincides with the annual Hajj pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca.
