GOOBJOOG NEWS | ALGIERS: Interior Minister Ali Yusuf Ali-Hosh has delivered a special message from President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during high-level talks in Algiers aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.

The message focused on deepening bilateral cooperation and expanding coordination on regional security, counter-terrorism and African affairs.

The talks reflected Somalia’s growing effort to build stronger ties with influential North African countries as Mogadishu seeks broader diplomatic support and strategic partnerships beyond the Horn of Africa.

Officials said the discussions also covered shared interests in regional stability and cooperation within African and Arab institutions, areas Somalia increasingly views as important to its foreign policy and security agenda.

The presidential message signals an attempt to elevate political engagement with Algeria and secure stronger backing from a country that holds significant influence within the African Union and the Arab League.

The meeting comes as Somalia intensifies international diplomacy while pursuing security operations against al-Shabab and wider efforts to strengthen state institutions and regional partnerships.

Algeria has long been active in continental peace and mediation initiatives and is regarded by Somali officials as a potentially important partner on security cooperation and political coordination in Africa.
