President Mohamud to push for sustainable food security interventions in London summit

GOOBJOOG NEWS|LONDON: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will be pitching for a sustainable solution to ensure food security in Somalia and the larger Horn of Africa during the one-day UK Global Food Summit in London.

President Mohamud who is the co-chair of the summit will be speaking alongside UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

The purpose of the summit is to focus international attention on the deepening global food security crisis and help boost efforts to achieve Zero Hunger and end malnutrition.

According to the summit website, the one-day event will also ‘showcase practical action achieving real, lasting improvements in people’s lives, delivered by UK expertise, partnerships and science.’

The summit comes amid a raging humanitarian crisis in Somalia as floods displace over half a million people. The country just emerged from a deadly drought described by the UN as the severest in 40 years.
