President Mohamud, UN Envoy Discusses Somalia’s Security
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal government of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has reiterated Somalia’s commitment to working closely with international partners in ensuring a smooth transition, and enhancing security through coordinated support.
The president made the remarks Monday when he hosted the acting Special Representative for Somalia and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) James Swan at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu.
Their discussion focused on the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia.(UNSOM) transition process and the critical role of the United Nations in Somalia’s stabilization efforts.
The president emphasized the importance of consolidating progress in line with Somalia’s long-term security and development goals, as well as the country’s active role in the global community as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
