Senior Federal Officials Hold Governance Discussions at Hawa Taako Centre
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Senior officials from the federal government visited the Hawa Taako Peace, Development and Humanitarian Centre in Mogadishu on Tuesday, where they held discussions focused on state-building and public engagement.
The delegation included Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Hassan Moallim Mahmoud, State Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Hirsi Jama Gani, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ali Bacad, and Deputy Information Minister Abdirahman Al-Adala.
The officials were received by the centre’s leadership, headed by prominent peace activist and civil society figure Amina Haji Elmi, who has long been involved in reconciliation, peacebuilding and governance initiatives in Somalia.
Former Information Minister Abdikarim Jama and former Public Works Minister Abdirashid Khalif also participated in the discussions.
According to participants, the meeting focused on issues related to state-building, governance and the role of civic engagement in supporting Somalia’s political development.
The visit forms part of broader efforts by government officials to engage with civil society organizations and community leaders as Somalia navigates key political, constitutional and security challenges.
Somalia has increasingly sought to strengthen dialogue between government institutions and non-state actors, with policymakers and civil society groups emphasizing the importance of public participation in governance, reconciliation and democratic processes.
Observers say such engagements have become particularly important at a time when the country is grappling with debates over constitutional reforms, elections and national reconciliation efforts.
