SNA Chief Urges New Recruits to Uphold Discipline and Protect Civilians
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Ground Forces commander, Brigadier General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, has urged newly recruited soldiers to uphold military discipline, respect human rights and maintain public trust as they prepare to join the national army.
Gen. Sahal, also known as Gen. Khalid, delivered the message during a meeting with new recruits at the Xananbuure Military Training School, where he encouraged them to serve the country with patriotism, commitment and a strong sense of responsibility.
He praised the recruits for choosing to join the military and defend the country, saying Somalia needs capable and disciplined forces to protect its people and national sovereignty.
The commander also bid farewell to another group of soldiers who had completed their training at the facility and were preparing to begin their national service.
He urged the departing troops to follow military rules and regulations, respect human rights and avoid conduct that could undermine public confidence in the armed forces.
Gen. Sahal also stressed the importance of resilience, vigilance and courage in carrying out military duties, noting that the country needs well-trained personnel with the skills and commitment to address its security challenges.
The recruitment and training efforts come as Somalia continues to strengthen its national army and expand its capacity to lead operations against Al-Shabaab, while preparing to assume greater responsibility for the country’s security.
