Somali Army, Allies Deal Major Blow to Al-Shabaab in Precision Airstrikes

GOOBJOOG | MOGADISHU: The Somali National Army (SNA), in coordination with international partners, carried out a series of precision airstrikes targeting key Al-Shabaab strongholds in Jilib, Middle Jubba region.
According to sources familiar with the operation, the strikes hit multiple strategic locations, including the group’s command center, two training camps, an explosives manufacturing facility, and the residences of senior commanders Hassan Yaqoub and Amin.
The airstrikes successfully destroyed all designated targets, inflicting heavy casualties on the militants, with reports of numerous deaths and injuries.
The Federal Government of Somalia is currently conducting a thorough assessment to determine the full extent of the damage.
In addition to the Jilib operation, further airstrikes were carried out on Al-Shabaab’s strongholds in El-Bacad—situated along the Middle Shabelle and Galgaduud border—and in Mubarak, located in the Lower Shabelle region. These strikes delivered another significant blow to the group’s operational capabilities.
The Somali National Army, with the support of international allies and the unwavering determination of the Somali people, remains committed to eradicating Al-Shabaab and reclaiming every inch of Somali territory from the militant group.
