GOOBJOOG NEWS | BAIDOA: Senior officials from Somalia’s Federal Government, regional administrations and the Banadir Regional Administration are in Baidoa for the inauguration of Southwest State President Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madobe), in a display of political support and intergovernmental engagement.

Among those the officials is Banadir Regional Administration and Mogadishu Mayor Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Mungab), who led a high-level delegation received at Shaati Guduud Airport by President Madobe, senior Southwest State officials and members of the regional legislature.

Hirshabelle State President Ali Abdullahi Hussein (Ali Gudlawe) also arrived in Baidoa with a delegation to attend Monday’s inauguration, while representatives from Galmudug, Northeast State and the Federal Government were already in the city ahead of the ceremony.

The inauguration is expected to bring together senior political leaders from across Somalia, making it one of the country’s most significant intergovernmental gatherings in recent months.

Madobe was elected to lead Southwest State last month, and his swearing-in comes as Somalia seeks to strengthen cooperation between the Federal Government and its Federal Member States on key national priorities, including security, governance and constitutional reforms.

The event also comes at a time when relations between Mogadishu and regional administrations are under close scrutiny as leaders work to build consensus on the country’s political future, including preparations for future elections and efforts to consolidate gains in the fight against the militant group Al-Shabaab.

The broad representation at the ceremony is seen as a reflection of a renewed effort by federal and regional leaders to maintain dialogue and project unity as Somalia navigates a complex state-building process alongside persistent security and political challenges.
