Somalia: Abdiqasim calls government to uphold people’s right when collecting weapons
The former president of transitional federal government of Somalia Abdiqasim Salad Hassan criticized the schemes the federal government employed when collecting illegal weapons.
He stated that government need to uphold the rights of the people when conducting operations to control illegal weapons in the country adding that security forces have no right to invade the residential areas of Somali MPs without prior notice.
Mr. Abdiqasim urged the federal government to take different measures to peacefully collect the illegal weapons in the country especially the capital.
He also called the locals to collaborate and give valuable information that might lead to the seizure of illegal weapons and ammunitions to the government so as to maintain security.
The security forces of federal government of Somalia have been carrying out security operations meant to arrest individuals who are suspected of possessing weapons in Mogadishu.
