Somalia Advances Justice Sector Reforms As Government Pushes Institutional Transformation
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Federal Government of Somalia on Thursday highlighted major progress in justice sector reforms during a high-level symposium in Mogadishu attended by senior state officials, lawmakers and judicial leaders.
The event brought together cabinet ministers, members of both houses of parliament and senior officials from the country’s justice and correctional institutions, underscoring the government’s accelerating efforts to modernise the legal system and strengthen rule-of-law institutions.
Justice Minister Hassan Moalin said the federal government had made significant strides in improving coordination among judicial agencies, strengthening legal procedures and building institutions capable of delivering effective and accountable justice services.
Officials said the reforms are part of a broader national agenda aimed at reinforcing state authority, protecting citizens’ rights and restoring public confidence in government institutions after years of conflict and instability.
During the symposium, the Ministry of Justice presented a documentary highlighting operational progress across the sector, including upgrades to legal systems, improvements in correctional services and expanding institutional capacity within the judiciary.
The event reflected the government’s growing focus on institutional reform as Somalia continues efforts to consolidate stability, strengthen governance and rebuild key state structures across the country.
