GOOBJOOG NEWS | ADDIS ABABA: Somalia has reaffirmed its commitment to climate resilience and sustainable development at a major regional forum in Ethiopia.

Environment and Climate Change Minister Bashir Mohamed Jama represented Somalia at the 12th Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, which brought together officials from the United Nations, African Union and other partners.

Talks focused on accelerating progress on key priorities including climate action, water security and green growth, while strengthening regional cooperation.

Jama said Somalia remains committed to advancing environmental sustainability and working with partners to address shared challenges.

The forum aims to align Africa’s development priorities with global and continental frameworks, including the U.N.’s Agenda 2030 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

Somalia is among countries in the Horn of Africa facing increasing climate pressures, including recurrent droughts and environmental degradation, which have heightened the need for coordinated regional responses.
