Somalia, Burkina Faso Deepen Security Cooperation in Anti-Terror Efforts
GOOBJOOG NEWS | OUAGADOUGOU: Somalia and Burkina Faso have agreed to strengthen counterterrorism cooperation and expand coordination between their security institutions following high-level talks in Ouagadougou.
Somalia’s Interior Security Minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail met Burkina Faso’s leader Ibrahim Traoré during an official visit focused on enhancing bilateral security relations.
The discussions centered on increasing intelligence-sharing, advancing joint security cooperation and expanding specialised training as both countries confront persistent extremist threats.
The meeting resulted in renewed commitments to deepen collaboration between security agencies and strengthen joint efforts against militant groups operating across the region.
The visit forms part of Somalia’s broader push to reinforce international security partnerships as Mogadishu continues operations against armed groups and works to modernise its security institutions.
The talks also come amid growing coordination among African nations seeking stronger regional responses to terrorism, cross-border insecurity and organised militant activity.
