Interior Security Minister Visits Burkina Faso for Counter-Terrorism Talks
GOOBJOOG NEWS | OUAGADOUGOU: Somalia’s interior security minister is on an official visit to Burkina Faso for talks focused on strengthening cooperation against militant threats and boosting coordination between security agencies.
Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag) arrived in the capital, Ouagadougou, where he was received by his counterpart Mahamadou Sana and senior officials.
The visit comes as both countries face ongoing security challenges, with officials expected to hold discussions on intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism efforts and strengthening institutional collaboration.
Somalia has stepped up diplomatic outreach in recent months to expand security partnerships beyond the Horn of Africa, while Burkina Faso continues to grapple with insurgent activity in the Sahel.
Officials say the talks are aimed at aligning strategies and enhancing joint responses to evolving threats, as governments across Africa seek closer cooperation to address regional insecurity.
