Somalia, China ink deal to strengthen bilateral relations

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia and China have agreed to strengthen bilateral ties and foster collaboration in the fields of commerce and economy to facilitate mutual growth and development.

Speaking while meeting Chinese ambassador to Somalia Fei Shengchao Commerce and Industry Minister Jibril Abdirashid Haji sad the two states have agreed to partner in fostering robust economic cooperation saying this will create more opportunities for trade opportunities, they expressed their commitment to promoting investments and enhancing economic ties for the benefit of both countries.

The minister shared the progress made by the Somali government in streamlining trade processes and improving the business environment in a move to attract global investments and at the same time underscored Somalia’s determination to become an attractive destination for international businesses.

On his part ambassador Fei Shengchao praised Somalia’s efforts in creating an enabling environment for trade and investment expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with Somalia in various sectors, particularly in agriculture, where Chinese expertise and technology, he said can contribute to boosting productivity and ensuring food security.

The ambassador also emphasized the importance of developing robust trade infrastructure

He acknowledged the potential for Somalia to become a vital trade hub in the region, and emphasized the importance of engaging with international partners to attract global investments that would contribute to the country’s economic growth.
