Somalia Commemorates Police Force Day
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia commemorated the establishment of the Somali Police Force on December 20th, which has played a crucial role in defending the nation and contributing to the freedom and security of its people.
Recognized as one of the most advanced military units at its inception the Somali Police Force, was essential in the establishment of a Somali state that stands alongside the international community.
The Somali Police Force undertakes crucial duties enshrined in the country’s constitution, including fighting crime, combating terrorism, defending the nation, ensuring internal security, and upholding national and international law.
Also, the Somali Police Force maintains a strong partnership with the International Police Organization (Interpol) and has demonstrated bravery and pride, achieving victories in the wars of 1964 and 1977, which reclaimed territories from foreign colonialists.
Somalia has undertaken several measures aimed at revitalizing the police force which has been plagued by various challenges such as the inclusion of new recruits which has further bolstered the restoration of security and order.
