Somalia, Egypt Move to Deepen Bilateral Cooperation

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Somalia and Egypt have reaffirmed their growing diplomatic ties following talks between Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Ali, and Egypt’s Ambassador to Somalia, Mohamed Salah Hassan Keshtah, in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in the Somali capital, focused on expanding cooperation between the two countries in key sectors including diplomacy, regional security, education, and strategic coordination.
According to a statement issued by Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the discussions reflected the “strong partnership” between Mogadishu and Cairo and the shared commitment of both governments to strengthen bilateral relations.
The talks come at a time when Somalia continues to deepen its regional and international partnerships amid ongoing security and political challenges in the Horn of Africa.
Egypt has in recent years increased its diplomatic engagement with Somalia, with cooperation spanning political coordination, education support, and regional security matters.
