Somalia, Oman Explore Transport and Digital Partnerships

GOOBJOO NEWS | MUSCAT: Somalia is seeking to expand cooperation with Oman in transport and digital infrastructure, following talks between senior officials in Muscat aimed at boosting connectivity and economic growth.

Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali met Oman’s Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali during an official visit, where discussions centred on developing joint initiatives in key sectors.

Officials said the talks highlighted opportunities to strengthen collaboration in transport networks, telecommunications and information technology, areas seen as critical to Somalia’s ongoing digital transformation.

Both sides also explored ways to facilitate private sector participation and deepen technical cooperation to support infrastructure development and improve service delivery.

The meeting underscores Somalia’s push to modernise its economy and expand regional links, as it works to attract investment and position itself as a hub for trade and digital innovation in the Horn of Africa.
