GOOBJOOG NEWS | ANTALYA: Federal Republic of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Serbia’s Prime Minister Đuro Macut have agreed to deepen cooperation in key sectors during talks held on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

The two leaders highlighted longstanding ties between their countries, tracing back to their shared alignment during the Non-Aligned Movement era in the 1960s, and stressed the importance of revitalising those relations.

Serbia reaffirmed its support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while reiterating its commitment to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs.

Both sides said there was scope to expand collaboration in areas including security, trade and natural resources, with particular interest in oil and gas development.

The meeting comes as Somalia steps up diplomatic engagement with a wider range of international partners to attract investment and strengthen economic cooperation following debt relief secured in 2023.

The Antalya Diplomacy Forum, attended by global leaders and policymakers, has provided a platform for discussions on geopolitical tensions and economic challenges, including the impact of conflicts in regions such as the Middle East on developing economies.
