Somalia, Turkey Eye Closer Trade Ties in Push for Economic Growth

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia and Turkey have pledged to deepen trade and industrial cooperation following talks in Mogadishu between Somali Commerce Minister Mahamud Aadan Geesood and Turkish Ambassador Alper Aktaş.

The two officials discussed ways to strengthen economic collaboration, attract investment, and support private sector development as part of broader efforts to boost sustainable growth.

Geesood praised Turkey’s continued role in Somalia’s reconstruction and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to accelerating economic progress.

Ambassador Aktaş echoed the sentiment, vowing to expand the “brotherly” partnership through joint initiatives and strategic projects.

Both sides agreed to maintain momentum, with further follow-up meetings planned.
