GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Newly appointed Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Abdifitah Qasim Mahmoud, was officially sworn into office on Monday during a meeting of the Standing Committee of the House of the People in Mogadishu.

The session, held at Villa Hargeisa and chaired by First Deputy Speaker Saadiya Yasin Haji Samatar, focused on formalizing the appointment of the new minister as the government moves to strengthen key state institutions.

The oath of office was administered by Supreme Court Judge Abdikafaar Hussein Isaaq, representing the Chief Justice.

Mahmoud takes over the information portfolio at a time when Somalia’s federal government is intensifying efforts to communicate its security operations, political reforms and state-building agenda to both domestic and international audiences.

The Ministry of Information plays a central role in government communications, public awareness campaigns and countering extremist narratives as Somalia continues operations against Al-Shabaab insurgents while pursuing constitutional and electoral reforms.
