Southwest Cabinet Approves Housing, Construction Policies
GOOBJOOG NEWS | BAIDOA: Somalia’s Southwest State has approved new housing and construction policies as part of efforts to improve urban planning and support development across the region.
The cabinet, chaired by interim leader Jibril Abdiraashid Haji Abdi, endorsed the measures during a meeting that reviewed security conditions, public services and ongoing projects.
Officials said the newly approved policies will regulate building standards and streamline permit approvals, aiming to improve the quality and organisation of urban expansion.
The move is expected to support better-managed growth in towns and cities, where demand for housing and infrastructure has been rising.
Ministers also stressed the need for swift implementation to ensure the policies translate into tangible improvements on the ground.
Regional administrations across Somalia have been introducing similar reforms in a bid to strengthen governance and modernise infrastructure as part of wider recovery and development efforts.
