GOOBJOOG NEWS | BAIDOA: The interim leader of Somalia’s Southwest State, Jibril Abdiraashid Haji Abdi, has called for stronger government performance, urging regional institutions to prioritise service delivery and accountability during a tour of key ministries.

Abdi pressed officials to intensify efforts to meet public needs, improve administrative efficiency and strengthen coordination across agencies, warning that effective governance was critical to restoring public trust.

He emphasised the need for greater transparency and faster implementation of government programmes, particularly in sectors such as security, health and humanitarian response, where demand remains high.

The remarks came during a working visit to ministries including security, justice, interior, health, constitution and humanitarian affairs, where the interim leader received briefings on ongoing activities and challenges.

His call reflects mounting pressure on Somalia’s regional administrations to deliver tangible services despite limited resources and persistent insecurity linked to the al Shabaab insurgency.

Southwest State remains central to stabilisation efforts in the country, with authorities seeking to strengthen institutions and expand access to essential services as part of broader state-building reforms backed by the federal government and international partners.
