Suspect Behind Chilling Eastleigh Trio Murders Served Jail Term for Murder in Ethiopia-Kenya Police
GOOBJOOG NEWS|NAIROBI: Police in Nairobi say a man suspected to be the key figure in the chilling murder of two women and a child from the Somali-dominated Eastleigh estate in was a convicted policeman in Ethiopia.
Hashim Dagane Muhumed who was nabbed by police Sunday following intense investigation was jailed for murder in Ethiopia and upon he release, he moved illegaly to Kenya where he operated as a taxi driver.
“Muhumed is currently in police custody, where he is undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment scheduled for tomorrow at the Makadara Chief Magistrates Court.” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said Sunday.
Muhumed served a police officer in Ethiopia before be relieved of his duties following the murder charges. Kenyan police have placed Muhumed at the centre of the chilling murders of Waris Daud, her 12 year old daughter Nuseiba Dahir and her niece Amina Abdirashid, 23.
Investigations conducted so far have established that Hashim Dagane, 24, was driving the Nissan Note (Reg No. KDQ 718Y) car captured on cctv cameras picking the victims from their Eastleigh home on October 21, 2024, hours before their bodies were discovered scattered at various locations, the agency said.
One other suspect is already in police custody. According to a woman who was reportedly kidnapped alongside the Eastleigh trio, her family deposited about $10,000 to an Ethiopian bank as ransom for her release.
