Al-Shabaab executes seven men by firing squad
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The extremist group Al-Shabab has executed seven men in cold blood in the Bay region of southeastern Somalia.
The men were executed late Saturday in a public square close to Bula-Fulay in the Bay area of Somalia.
Six of the men who were put to death were charged with spying for the US and the Somali government.
Additionally, three of them were charged with giving information that resulted in the deaths of prominent Al-Shabab figures Yusuf Jiis and Abdulkadir Commandos in US airstrikes in April and August 2020 respectively.
Without presenting proof, an Al-Shabab judge claimed that the six individuals had confessed to locals that they had given intelligence about the killing of the Al-Shabaab officials to US authorities.
