Al-Shabab fighters defect to the government in Bardhere

An Al-Shabab officer and two fighters have surrendered to Somali government forces in Gedo region after defecting from the group.
Three Al-Shabab members were been displayed before camera today in Bardheere town of Gedo region by the Somali federal government authorities in the region.
Jama’a Musse, one of SNA commanders in Gedo said that the three surrendered to Somali government forces in Bardhere town days ago.
Jama’a called on the young men fighting for the group to abandon the violence and the extreme ideology of Al Shabab, which he says in un-Islamic.
The number of Al-Shabab fighters defecting to the government including senior officials is continued to increase while the group has lost major strategic controls it once controlled.
Bardhere town used to be the largest stronghold for Al-Shabab’s top officials and its foreign jihadist fighters before they fled after heavy military assault by the Somali government forces and the African Union mission in Somalia [AMISOM].

AMISOM troops and Somali National Army have imposed dawn to curfew in the town a bid to store the security of the town.
