Allied Forces Kill Over 60 Al-Shabaab Militants in Central Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS|HIIRAAN: Over 60 Al-Shabaab militants were killed Sunday in a joint operation in Hiiraan region, central Somalia, military sources said.

According to the state news agency, SONNA which quoted military sources, the militants were killed in Hilow Ba’ad village, some eight kilometres south-west of Halgan in Hiiraan region.

Sources said the operation, jointly carried out by Somali National Army and international partners, began Sunday morning, targeting several Al-Shabaab hideouts.

The heightened operation comes as the SNA wraps up operations in central Somalia before heading south for the second phase of the operation which will focus on South West and Jubaland states.
