Egypt Reaffirms Strategic Support to Somalia in High-Level Talks

GOOBJOOG NEWS | ANTALYA: Egypt has reaffirmed its strategic alliance with Somalia, pledging deeper cooperation on security, state-building, and regional stability during a meeting between Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

Conveying greetings from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Abdelatty underscored Egypt’s unwavering support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling Somalia’s stability “pivotal” to peace in the Horn of Africa.

The Egyptian minister pledged sustained backing for Somalia’s counterterrorism efforts and emphasized Cairo’s commitment to strengthening Somali institutions and accelerating national recovery.

President Mohamud welcomed Egypt’s renewed support, describing the relationship as a cornerstone of Somalia’s foreign policy. He praised Egypt’s role as a trusted regional partner amid Somalia’s critical military campaign against al-Shabaab and broader state reconstruction.

The meeting signals Cairo’s growing diplomatic engagement in the Horn and highlights deepening ties between the two countries at a crucial time for Somalia’s transition.
