Ethiopia appoints new Envoy to Somalia
Ethiopian government has appointed Jamaludin Mustafa Omar the new ambassador to Somalia on Thursday.
The President of Mulatu Teshome has named Omar to the country’s new envoy to Somalia, aiming to bolster its ties with Mogadishu.
According to Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) Omar who replaces long serving envoy Abdiaziz Ahmed Aden, was previously served as deputy envoy for the Ethiopian mission in Somalia and is said has massive experience in the foreign policy.
“The Ethiopian embassy is one of foreign representations in Somalia. In addition to the embassy in Mogadishu, Ethiopia also has a consulate general in Garowe “the Ethiopian said in the statement posted on ENA.
The Ethiopian embassy in Mogadishu is one of 83 Ethiopian diplomatic and consular representations abroad.
The new ambassador Jamaalud-diin Mustafa Omar is expected to present his credentials to the Somali President in the coming weeks.
The Ethiopian embassy is among other foreign embassies located in the heavily fortified Presidential Palace “Villa Somalia” in the capital Mogadishu.
