GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has arrived in Mogadishu following the resumption of relations with Somalia following a bitter fallout.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received the Ethiopian leader at Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu and proceeded for talks at Villa Somalia.
The visit of the Ethiopian leader marks the height of improved relations between Somalia and Ethiopia following a series of mediations by Turkey. The two countries bitterly fell out after Ethiopia signed a controversial MoU with the breakaway region of Somaliland in January 1, 2024.
Abiy’s visit comes barely three days after an Ethiopian delegation led by the heads of the military and intelligence visited Mogadishu.
