Ethiopian war planes bomb Al-Shabab training camps in Hiraan region
Somali government forces supported by allied forces have been conducting operations to drive out Al-Shabab fighters from Hiraan region amid state formation conference for Middle Shabelle and Hiraan regions is due commence.
SNA soldiers have recaptured several areas including Moqokori locality from Al-Shabab fighters.
Elsewhere Ethiopian war planes have yesterday evening conducted air raids in several areas located in the outskirt of Baladwein town.
SNA commanders in Hiraan region have confirmed to Goobjoog news that AL-Shabab controlled areas have been targeted with bombardments leaving heavy causalities.
One of SN commanders who declined his named to be published because he was not authorised to speak to the media said that the targeted areas were Al-Shabab training camps and the group’s arsenal.
“The aerial raids caused a lot of damage including technical vehicles and many fightersto the militants whose bases were hit ” he said.
He urged locals to stay away from areas frequented by the militants.
Alshabab has not issued any statement about the development. The group has met major setbacks in the last few months as they lost a number of major towns which have served as supply routes and sources of revenue.
AMISOM and Somali National Army are preparing to improve the security of the region amid preparations for the upcoming state formation conference for Hiran and Middle Shebelle.
