President Farmaajo Visits Puntland State

Somali president Mohamed Abdulahi Farmaajo today visited Garowe town, Nugaal province and state capital of Puntland.

President Farmaajo was hugely welcomed by the state president Dr. Abdiweli Ali Gaas in the presence of state ministers, army officers, politicians, traditional elders and thousands of the local people who were waving the Somali national flag.

Security operations have been tightened around the city with several policemen and soldiers manning major points in the town.

President Farmaajo who is leading an entourage of federal ministers and MPs is expected to inaugurate the newly built airport in Garowe duirng his sojourn in Garowe.

This is the first official visit by the Somali president since he was elected in February 2017.
