Somali Army Chief Declares Al-Shabaab on the Brink of Defeat

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali National Army Chief General Odawaa Yuusuf Raage has called for a decisive final offensive against Al-Shabaab, asserting that the militant group is nearing total defeat.
During a visit to soldiers on the frontline in Middle Shabelle, General Odawaa urged the forces to sustain their momentum and push forward in what he described as the last phase of the battle.
“For two years, Al-Shabaab has been under siege. They are weakened and desperate. Operations must continue without pause. Victory requires sacrifice, and no nation attains honor for free,” he stated.
His remarks come as the federal government strengthens its military presence in Middle Shabelle, reinforcing troops in a determined push to eradicate Al-Shabaab. National and local forces have ramped up operations, reclaiming key strongholds in central and southern Somalia.
With intensified offensives and strategic gains, Somalia’s leadership remains resolute in its mission to eliminate the militant group once and for all.
