Somalia, Kenya Strengthen Ties with Pact on Environmental Conservation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | NAIROBI: Somalia and Kenya have signed a landmark agreement to enhance bilateral cooperation and strengthen environmental conservation efforts.

The deal was discussed on Tuesday during a high-level meeting by a Somali delegation led by Environment and Climate Change Minister Bashir Mohamed Jama and Kenya’s Environment Minister Adan Barre Duale.

The two leaders emphasized the urgent need to combat deforestation and mitigate the effects of climate change, which continue to impact communities in both nations.

Speaking at the meeting, Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle stressed the importance of formalizing the partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on environmental development.

He also called for the establishment of technical committees to accelerate implementation efforts.

This collaboration underscores the commitment of both governments to tackle environmental challenges and promote sustainable development for the region’s future.
