Somalia’s parliament to vote on new cabinet tomorrow
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Members of the People’s Assembly of the Federal Parliament of Somalia are scheduled to hold an extraordinary meeting on Sunday, July 7th, at the Villa Hargeisa in Mogadishu.
A statement issued by the Parliamentary Committee said that the agenda of tomorrow’s meeting was for the Members of Parliament to vote for the cabinet appointed by the Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
In the past few days, members of the newly appointed cabinet have been holding consultations with MPs in a bid to lobby for support during tomorrow’s confidence vote.
The cabinet, composed of 81 members, includes Sheikh Mukhtar Robow Ali (Abu Mansir), who has been under house arrest for the last three years and also used to serve as a deputy leader of al-Shabab, the al-Qaeda-linked armed group.
