Special Committee Appointed to Address Clan Clashes in Galgaduud Region
GOOBJOOG NEWS | DHUSAMAREEB: A special committee comprising of state minsters has been formed to address an ongoing conflict between two clans in Abudwaq and Herale districts.
The committee, appointed by Galgaduud regional leader Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor aims to resolve the conflict that has led to loss of life and property.
The administration has stated that the clan conflict has also been an impediment to the ongoing offensive against the Al-Shabaab militant group in the region.
The Federal Government of Somalia has appealed to Somali people to end conflicts and called on elders, local intellectuals and religious leaders to work together in resolving differences so as to foster lasting peace across the country.
Elders from the region have recently been involved in efforts to end the fighting and bring the warring parties together to the negotiating table for a peaceful resolution.
