Vote Counting and Verification to Conclude Today-Somaliland Polls Boss

GOOBJOOG NEWS|HARGEISA: Vote counting in the just concluded elections in Somaliland will be concluded today ahead of final announcement, the national electoral body, SLNEC has said.

The Somaliland National Elections Commission chairman Muse Hassan Yusuf said Friday night that the polls team will conclude counting and verification of electoral results today. He noted that the electoral commission will proceed to announce the presidential results once the verification exercise is completed.

He also cautioned against those who are issuing purported results on the social media noting that the SLNEC was the only mandated body by law to announce the results.

Three presidential candidates- Abdi Muse Bihii of the ruling Kulmiye part, Abdirahman Irro of Wadani and Faysal Warabe of UCID party.

According to SLNEC, 1,227,048 voters were registered to participate in the elections which were conducted in 2637 polling stations.
